Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently seeking a Transportation BIM Specialist to join our growing team of transportation professionals. We utilize BIM technology and a team design environment on non-routine and complex roadway projects for local, regional and national clients.

In the role of BIM Specialist, we'll count on you to:

  • Develop designs under broad direction from the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Demonstrate extensive BIM, design development, construction document, technical and engineering knowledge.
  • Lead Model Manager for linear transportation or Site Civil design improvements.
  • Have a good understanding of Project setup, CADD Standards and workflows.
  • Create model-based solutions with distinctive design features differing significantly from software provided templates or standards.
  • Use 3D BIM models to produce 3D rendered visualizations, animations, or virtual reality applications.
  • Direct preparation of drawings by other BIM designers of lesser experience or take responsibility for supervision of BIM staff as needed.
  • Work with client or contractor representatives as needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or technical school degree, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 0 years of experience with civil engineering/site development projects.
  • Knowledge of BIM, design development, construction documents, technical and engineering practices.
  • Requires a good working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil3D or MicroStation/ORD, construction documents and technical aspects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to gather, organize and interpret data for process monitoring.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Highways, local streets, and drainage design.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Model Manager experience is a plus.
  • Roadway, civil site design experience
  • Understanding of conveyance and collection drainage systems, profile development, and site grading is a plus
  • Knowledge in using a 3D BIM model to represent your design and use in creating visualizations, photo realistic renderings, animations, and virtual reality applications.
